  4. Is ExpressVPN safe?

ExpressVPN is safe, as you can see in our ExpressVPN review. The company itself is based in the British Virgin Islands, which is not part of any surveillance alliances.1 That means that no government agency can force ExpressVPN to give it customers’ data.

On top of that, ExpressVPN is a no-log VPN, meaning it doesn’t save users’ IP addresses or web activity. Instead, ExpressVPN encrypts this data using AES-256, the current industry standard in encryption, although ExpressVPN lacks split tunneling, which means that a VPN runs the data through encryption multiple times.

However, if the VPN connection fails, ExpressVPN has a network lock feature, otherwise known as a kill switch, that will shut down all web apps and browsers to maintain your privacy.

  5. How do I use ExpressVPN?

    To use ExpressVPN:

As a company, ExpressVPN is based in the British Virgin Islands and was launched in 2009.

  7. Does ExpressVPN keep logs?

    1. Name
    2. Email address
    3. Payment information
    4. Anonymous crash diagnostics
    5. If you use MediaStraemer for Apple TV or a similar device that’s not compatible with VPNs, the IP address of your device

This means that the ISP can’t see the user’s online activity or their IP address.
